Notes Abdülazîz Merâgî-zâde's work on music theory. The author wrote Nekâvetü'l-Edvâr around 854/1451 during II. He wrote it in Persian to congratulate Mehmed, in line with the Systematic School of Music. The work consists of an introduction, twelve chapters and an epigraph. After the introduction explaining what music and its science are, Hâce Abdülazîz talked about edvâr, layers, musical transitions, harmony, makams, ikas and the classification of instruments. He followed the views of his father Abdülkâdir in his ideas, defined 12 makams, 6 avaza and 24 branches, and did not even add the makams he invented to these numbers. In the book, in the safaşube maqam he invented, II. Murad II in the Shahishube maqam. He talked about the compositions he composed from his own poems for Mehmed. He also said that he invented two styles, which he named Vetedüssadr (chest pole) and Darbülmecnun (crazy beat), and a reclined zither instrument called Tervîh. At the same time, the work carries the meaning of a secret rejection against new views, by not mentioning the understanding of the New Systemists School of Music that has risen in Anatolia since Yûsuf Kırşehrî, the new maqam compositions invented by the school, the books written and their authors. Koç (2010) made a doctoral thesis with the translation method on two manuscripts of Nekâvetü'l-Edvâr, two Iranian researchers, Khazrai and Azadehfar. (2018) published an article examining the makam scales in the work. For the author's biography, see.
