Notes The autobiographical work of Abbaskulu Ağa Bakıhanov. In Mir'atü'l-Cemâl, the poet describes his trip to Poland in 1833-1834 and his impressions there. In the masnavis named Mi'râc-ı Hayâl and Meclis-i Firengî, he compares the life of East and West people, their perspective on life and events, and their moral structure. In the verse story called Mi'râc-i Hayâla, the poet emphasizes that happiness should be sought not in distant places, but in his own homeland, and that life will gain meaning by serving the people. Then, he describes the Polish expedition and the European assemblies. In Meclis-i Firengî, he criticizes Europe's moral structure and view of life. In his poem Arz-ı Ahvaladlı, he deals with his excitements and his view on love and affection (Sultanov 1984b: 11; Kasımzade 2017: 168). The work is included in the Collection of Bakıhanov's works. It is between sheets 21a–36b (Azerbaijan National Elmler Library No. M-120/11099). Elmin Aliyev, in her master's thesis titled Abbaskulu Bakuhanli and Moral Thought, says that Mir'atü'l-Cemâl is not an independent work but may be a part of Kudsî's Divân (2007: 58). Memmedağa Sultanov published Bakıhanov's poems such as Meclis-i Firengî, Arz-ı Ahvâl, Mîrac-i Hayâl under the name of Mirâtü'l-Cemâl and Ömür-Gün Poems (1984a: 59–88; 1984b: 178–210).
