The colophon (f. 123a) states that this witness was copied by Durūd ibn Husayn ibn Yahyā al-Rūmī al- Āydīnī al-Ṯīrī in Enguriye (Ankara) on Thursday, Ḏu al-Ḥijjaẗ 787 [Feb. 1386]. It also says that this treatise was composed the last part of Rabīʿ II 727 (March 1327). | The explanation of the book was written with the good grace of King Al-Wahhab at the hands of a servant in need of the mercy of his merciful Lord, Durood bin Hussein Al-Rumi Al-Aydini Al-Thayri. May God see his faults in his soul and make his day better than his yesterday, in an Ankorian town that was preserved from the Tuareg of the two events, on Thursday of the middle ten of Dhul-Qi’dah in the year 787 AH, and the work written by him was completed at the end of Rabi’ al-Akhir. In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, a Lord who grants success to completion. After praising God, spread throughout His earth and heaven, and blessings upon Muhammad, the Seal of His Prophets, the summary marked by the summary of the virtuous and wise and perfect Imam, the King of Engineers, the model of investigators, the honor of the faith and the religion, Mahmoud bin Muhammad bin Omar Al-Chaghmini, may his soul rest in peace. Although it imitates the miracle of its good will, it is, to the point of its brevity, comparable to riddles. It is a rough, unpunched, and unmounted filly, so I decided to explain it in a way that would limit it to solving its words, clarifying its meanings, declaring an analysis of its compositions, explaining its summary, solving its mystery, restricting its meaning, and detailing its entirety. So I did that and sought help from God that it is the best conciliator and helper, and when I finished completing it, I served with it the treasury of the Master, the Greatest Companion and the Great Served, who combines the two scientific virtues. And the process that contains the religious and worldly leaderships is a natural leadership, not a positive one, a real one, not an additional one, the supporter from heaven, the one who triumphs over the enemies. Whoever says, “Amen,” may God preserve his path, for this is a supplication that includes human beings, and let us proceed with what we are at His chest, relying on the Mighty, the Bestower, and the Inspirer of Righteousness, for He is the return, and to Him is the return. Upon his Prophet Muhammad and his family, I wrote this book on the form of the world and in some versions on the science of form, which is a science in which the number of the upper bodies, their shape and position, and the reasons for their differences and their movements, their magnitude, direction, and their corollary, are known, and the magnitudes of the dimensions, the bodies, the shape of the sphere of earth and water together, and the sphere of vapor, their magnitude and position, and what necessitates them according to the different positions of the upper bodies... - .... Then they multiplied that to this quantity. In the twelve number of months of the year, the days of the lunar year in Shasnad [such] were one day, five days, and one-sixth, and this year is short of the solar year by approximately ten days, twenty hours, and a half hour.
