Praise be to God, since the water wheel of added water emerging from Fez al-Jadid and from the mellah in it was damaged, and some of it adjacent to the crushed tower was fallen, and they lacked weeding, sanding, passivation, and ordering, and some of it was from its owner, who is the needle, Sidi Muhammad ibn Abd al-Majid al-Nashar, from the Rightly Guided Caliph, Sidi Haj Idris ibn Abd al-Jalil, the peasants who knew the waterwheels and what was present from them and who would be the ones who made them stand. The landowner, Mr. J. Al-Taya bin Sidi Muhammad Al-Saffar Al-Andalusi, Al-Murabit C, Lahcen bin Ahmed Al-Abdalawi, and Al-Sharif Sidi Al-Arabi bin Al-Tayeb Al-Madhahu bin Adaj, testified before his witness, may God forgive him, that they stood on the aforementioned waterwheel and walked around it sufficiently. They found that it was destroyed, and the part of its side next to the tower had fallen, and that the waterwheel was in the process of being weeded and restored to its weeds and passivation, and they were asked if its benefit would be superior to the described condition. Or not, it appears to them, based on the evidence of their writing, the proof of their knowledge, and what their diligence led to, that if it remained in the described state, there would be damage to the water descending on the enemy of Fez Al-Andalus, to its mosques, and to their doves, and its harm would not be diminished by the more upholstered ones, its overlapping, weeding, and the construction of what was left of it for construction, and if that became important, its exit from the saltwaters would be upon the people of Dhimmah alone, until it was installed in Al-Rahha and from there to the end of its barren land.
