Notes Praise be to God alone                    And may God’s blessings and peace be upon our master Muhammad, his family and companions, our beloved earthly needle, the servant of our master, Aminah Al-Murtada, my master Muhammad bin Talib. May the peace, mercy, and blessings of God be upon you. For the best of our master, may God grant him victory and perpetuate his presence for us and the Muslims. And after arriving to you with the donkey carrying the book, Hammu Khalouk was born in Fez, and his father is from Taflat. He was traveling to the Sacred House of God, and he accompanied with him another great son, Khalouk. Tafilat with this little boy whom we have directed to you. When their father returned from Hajj, he sent his eldest son, who is from Taflat, and this little one with him. Then when they reached a mountain, the eldest did this to his brother, this little one, which the one who had mercy had not done. He grabbed him and his shoulder from his hand and foot and put fire for him in the palm of his hand and held them to him. He took the tip of an iron and protected it in the fire and put the fire for him in the palm of his hand and held them to him. He took the tip of the iron and protected it in the fire and made it cauterize it on his back and in his seat and he wished upon him. The hall remained with him in that state for a day and two days. Then the Christians who lived in the house heard that the one who blossoms in the hall is like the one who dies. They complained against the ruler of the country with his companions. They opened the hall and found the boy in the condition we mentioned, tied up on the bed of death. They opened him and accompanied him to the worker of the country. They arrested his brother who had done that to him and put him in prison and imposed their law on him. When we got the news, we spoke to the English constable who is with us here. We went to the governor of Jabal, a male road, but they did not give him anything while they were working. He has the law, and when they dispose of him, they dispose of him, and the younger one made him languish in the prison, so we also wrote again that perhaps their law would condemn him to die in that humiliation of Islam. I mentioned to them that they send him to us, and what our law requires of him, we should do to him with us. They did not accept that until their law separated and the ruling came out for him. He will remain in the dredger for ten years with the prisoners as their possessions. Then after him, we wrote against him for harming their state in Andarin. Their answer: They forgave him and directed him to us, and the ruler of Jabal asked us for a way for what they allowed. Likewise, we forgive him and do not make him needy, and they sent this little boy separated from his brother, and they ordered that his brother also kill him, and it is we who directed him to you eight months ago, and he was bleeding until he recovered, but if one of his relatives had an ax, you would pay it to them, and there is no power or strength except with God, and this is what we inform you of, and peace be upon you, and on the 3rd of Jumada al-Thani in the year 1275, your beloved Muhammad al-Khatib, may God grant him success.
