Notes
Praise be to God alone And may God’s blessings and peace be upon our master Muhammad, his family and companions, the servant of our master, the leader of the earth, the most happy, the most happy, Al-Murtada, Sidi Idris Al-Sarraj. May God protect you and grant you the best. May God’s peace, mercy, and blessings be upon you. For the goodness of our master, may God grant him victory. We have received your most honorable speech, and herewith, the response of the Pashdur of the state of Espanyol on the issue of Ceuta and Melilla, and I mentioned that our master was supported by God. I ordered you to direct it to us so that we can answer what you mentioned in your letter and to direct the answer about that to Mr. Muhammad Barkash so that he may give it to the mentioned Pashdur. I mentioned that we will answer you with the dancer. Our master, may God grant him victory, taught us the answer. Among them is the content of your dearest speech. We reviewed the answer of the Pashdur who addressed you in full and in detail, and here we have answered him according to what was issued by the honorable order and did not go beyond what is in your letter. We directed the answer to that to Mr. Muhammad Barkash in the company of this dancer by conveying it to him with Ribat. Al-Fath and you will receive a copy of that answer with which we answered a merchant or someone else, plus or minus, and the fee for the dancer was mentioned as twenty mithqals, so here we paid the bearer Al-Shaddad, and he helps us in honorable service, for your love and peace, in the 12 Hajj in the year 1280. Abdul Karim Al-Qabbaj, may God grant him success.
