Notes Title from the preface; Also known as: Kitāb al-Uṣūl, or: Uṣūl al-Shāshī (Brockelmann, I, 174). Compared with the Delhi edition of 1848. Incipit: “Bismillāh al-Raḥmān al-Raḥīm. bi-maʻānī Kitābih...” The beginning: “In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to God, who raised the status of the believers by His generous speech, and raised the status of the worlds with the meanings of His Book...” Fairly modern (18th century?) naskhī, in red and black. Extensive interlinear and marginal notes. Islamic binding, in yellow. No. 1 of 2 titles bound together. Colophon: “Tammat hādhihi al-kitāb min uṣūl al-fiqh al-musammá bi-Shāshī...” Conclusion: “This book was completed on the principles of jurisprudence called Shashi...” Translation of the colophon: “This book on the principles of fiqh (Islamic law), titled Shāshī [al-Shāshī], is completed...” Text in Arabic; notes in Arabic and Persian.
