المجموعة الثمينة من تراجم الصوفيين والأولياء مصحوبة بدراسة شاملة للصوفية، كتبها جميعها عبد الرحمن الجامي (817-898/1414-1492). في هذا المخطوطة، يسبق النص موعظة قصيرة باللغة الفارسية حول البحث الصوفي، تركز على موضوع الخيمياء والفتح: "أيها الباحثون، اعلموا واعلموا أن الشريعة كالشمعة التي تهدي الطريق حتى لو حملت شمعة مشيت ولم تفعل شيئاً وأتيت الباب، هذا طريقك، وعندما وصلت إلى مقصدك، هذا هو الحق الذي قالوا من أجل هذا". الوصف مقدم من ديريك مانشيني لاندر.
