Autograph of a treatise on conduct and physiognomy. | Ms. codex., Title from title page (fol. 1a)., Interlinear and marginal notes in the same hand. Some leaves are folded to preserve marginal notes from being cut off by the trimming of the leaves. On fol. 1a, in the same hand: biographical note on "Sīdī Aḥmad al-Zāhid" ; note on the text. Inscription "69" in Arabic numerals on the lower edge., The name of the author appears at the beginning of the text as : ʻAbd al-Razzāq ibn al-Sayyid ʻAbd al-Fattāḥ Lādhiqānī (fol. 2a), and in the colophon as : ʻAbd al-Razzāq ibn al-Sayyid ʻAbd al-Fattāḥ al-Ḥusaynī nasaban al-Lādhiqānī baladan (fol. 68a). The title page gives the complete genealogy of the author (fol. 1a)., Collation: Paper ; fol. iii + 72 + ii ; a (marbled paper) + ii (endpaper) + 68 + ii (endpaper) + a (marbled paper) ; modern foliation in pencil using Western numerals., Layout: 17 lines per page ; ruled., Description: Rubricated ; notes, overlining and other marks in red ink ; watermarks., Origin: Written on 5 Shawwāl 1270 [July 1854] in Istanbul ("Dār al-khilāfah al-ʻalīyah") by the author (colophon, fol. 68a)., Incipit: بسم ... حمدا لمن اكرم من شاءَ من عبادِه بمحاسنِ الشيمِ المُستَجادَه ... وبعد [2أ] فيقول العبد الفقير الفاني عبد ... اللّاَذِقاني ... اِنَّه لما قدّر اللهُ الذي ليس لعبدِه فيما قدّر, Explicit: فَقَدر بذكرِ صِفَاتِكم تا[...](؟) عَذْبَ المرشف وبوصفكم ارخ بدا ختامه مسكاوني سنه ١٢٧٠ | Contemporaneous half-bound type III (without flap) binding in leather and blue paper with block-pressed design over pasteboards.
