It is stated in the preface that it would be appropriate if the work were entitled al-Maqṣid al-asmāʼ fī muṭābaqat ism kull sūrah lil-musammá., Collation: Paper ; fol. 238 ; catchwords ; quires signed: 18-24 (first 17 quires unsigned) ; modern foliation in pencil using Western numerals., Layout: 25 lines per page., Description: Rubricated ; watermarks (three crescents) ; MS in good condition. MS is rare., Incipit: بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم وصلي الله علي سيدنا محمد وسلم الحمد لله الذي اعلم سور القرآن بما دل علي مقاصدها ... وبعد فهذا كتاب سميته مصاعد النظر ..., Colophon: قد انتهى الاثبات له مع التحرير والانتخاب على قدر الجهد والطاقة والله الموفق للصواب وهو حسبي ونعم الوکيل وصلى الله على سيدنا محمد وعلى اله وصحبه وسلم | Later type II (with flap) binding in light brown leather and marbled paper. Flap exterior covered in paper with zig-zag block-pressed design. Not sewn. Signs of earlier binding. | Acquired from Brill, Leyden, 1900. | Hitti, P.
