ملاحظات نسخة غنية بالزخارف وشبه كاملة من الشاهنامة مع نقص أقل من صفحة من مقدمتها النثرية، ربما تم نسخها في القرن السادس عشر/ السابع عشر الميلادي. يبدو أن ختم غولكوندا على شكل قطرة على الصفحة الأولى هو ختم محمد قولي قطب شاه، سلطان غولكوندا، 1565-1612 بتاريخ 1012 [4/1603 م] ونقش لاحق مؤرخ ١٠٩١ [١٦١٠/١١ م]. لا يوجد ما يشير إلى متى تم الانتهاء من المخطوطة ولا ذكر لمكان إنتاجها. تم توقيع الكتاب الموجود على الصفحة الأولى من قبل تشاس ويلكنز، أمين مكتبة شركة الهند الشرقية، بتاريخ 15 أغسطس 1806، مما يشير إلى مصدر المخطوطة. تُصوِّر واجهة الصفحة المزدوجة سليمان متوجًا وبلقيس متوجًا على العرش، تليها صفحتان مزخرفتان بزخرفة فاخرة من الذهب ومتعددة الألوان [2ظ، 3ظ]، والتي تزين بداية المقدمة وتتضمن أيضًا كتابًا سابقًا لمكتبة ملكية. تشير المنمنمات الإحدى عشرة التالية الموجودة في النص إلى اختيار غير عادي للمشاهد ويتم تصويرها حسب ترتيب مظهرها: تتويج كايومار على العرش، وإعدام غورو لسيافوشا، وتعيين كاي خسرو طوس لقيادة رحلة استكشافية إلى توران، وكاموس يقاتل غيف وطوس، وهي معركة واسعة النطاق بين جيوش إيران وتوران، ورستم ينقذ بيزان من الحفرة، وتتويج لوهراسب، العمل الثاني لإسفنديار: قتال الأسود، رستم يقتل شغد قبل أن يموت، وبهرام غور يقتل تنينًا في الهند. المخطوطة مجلدة بجلد متعدد الألوان مع ميداليات وزخارف مذهبة على الغلاف الأمامي والخلفي وعلى اللسان. تم تضمين هذا العنصر في معرض الذكرى الـ 600 لتأسيس المكتبة "خطوط الفكر: اكتشافات غيرت العالم".

Cilt A multicoloured leather binding with gilded medallions and ornations. The spine was a later addition during a restoration in the 19th Century. The binding was restored in 1999-2002, when the codex underwent a throrough restoration and conservation in Cambridge University Library's Conservation Department by Kristine Rose and Deborah Farndell.
