| Notlar | The letter is drawing the Chief Secretaries attention to the weak strength of the squadron in the Persian Gulf. It explains that he would have prevented the return of the HC Schooner Constanceto Bombay if it had been in a fit enough condition; it is requested that the vessel is returned to the Gulf as soon as possible. It further explains that the Resident has decided to request that Commodore George Robinson returns to Bushire with the Clive, but that he has decided to leave the Tigrisat Bassidore [Bāsaʻīdū] unless news from Persia suggests the need for reinforcements. It is further explained in the letter that the Resident believes that a show of force in the Gulf can do much to reduce the risk of unfriendly acts from Persia. | 2 folios | more | less |
