Rare collection of treatises on the versification of riddles by various authors, comprised of an older portion compiled by Mīrzā ʿAlī ibn Mihr ʿAlī Samarqandī (items c-k) and later portion compiled by Rūp Narāyan Khattarī Siyālkūtī for a Mīrzā Jānī Bayg Kābulī (items a-b, l). The older portion ranges in date 9 Muḥarram-27 Shavvāl 1027/6 January-17 October 1618, while the later portion was completed Rabīʿ II 1105/December 1693, with a statement made at the beginning dated to RY 38 of Emperor Awrangzīb ʿĀlamgīr I , Shavvāl 1105/June 1694, which appears to be the date the volume was finally completed. The volume contains interesting information on Central Asian, Iranian, and Indian military and intellectual history. Tables of contents repeated twice at beginning. Rough to neat scribal nastaʿlīq, shikastah āmīz, and ghubārī. Older portion transcribed in loose scribal nastaʿlīq in diluted ink. Annotations and corrections interlinear and in margins throughout, frequently organised into vegetal, animal, abstract, and calligraphic designs. Stamped foliation. Leather binding; severely damaged, broken and detached spine. Folios unbound; brittle paper, lower left corners broken off of beginning folios; cropped, wormholes, later repairs. Condition fragile.
