Carpet fragment of hand woven wool and cotton. WARP: white cotton: Z2S; 15 threads per inch (60 per dm). WEFT: white cotton; Z2S; 4 shoots after most rows of knots but sometimes 3 or 5; 10 knots per inch (39 per dm). PILE: wool; 8 colours: red, yellow, blue/green, dark blue, blue, purple, black, white; symmetrical knot tied around 2 threads; 75 knots per sq. inch (1170 per sq. dm). SIDE FINISH: cut END FINISH: cut DESIGN: main border: red ground; pseudo-kufic hooked bars interlacing with links of stepped motifs, all white and outlined in black. Motifs enclose multi-coloured stars. Guard stripe: 3" (7.5 cm) in width showing diagonal figure.
