Earrings, in a wide variety of designs, were worn by women throughout the Islamic world. These were described as âModern Egyptianâ when they were acquired by the Museum in 1873, and their hollow pendants with three vertical bars are characteristic of that country. In more recent times the use of this pattern was only found among the women of the remote western oases, such as Bahariya, but it is quite credible that they were worn over a wider area in the 19th century.

Fiziksel açıklama
Pair of hoop earrings of plain copper wire with one plain end and one forming part of a hinge with the pendant. The pendant is a large hollow drop with slightly splayed sides decorated with a central band of repousse beading, three lines wide, which runs down the front of the pendant from the top to the bottom and then up the back to the top again.
