Bag face WARP: cream wool; Z2S; 24 threads per inch at the top (96 per dm). and 22 per inch at the bottom (85 per dm). WEFT: brown wool; Z spun, unplied; 3 parallel threads per shoot; 1 shoot after each row of knots; 22 knots per inch (86 per dm). PILE: wool; 7 colours: dark red, red, yellow, green, dark blue, dark brown, white; asymmetrical knot open to the right and tied around 2 threads (but includes some jufti knots); 242 to 264 knots per sq. inch 93655 to 4128 per sq. dm). SIDE FINISH: cut END FINISH: Lower: maximum of 4 cms. plain weave with cream weft; immediately below the pile is a row of jufti knots which would have formed a fringe. Upper: cut. DESIGN: field: dark red ground with seven bands of 19 stylised blossoms, coloured to create diagonal bands across the field in red, blue, green and white. Main border: dark red ground, hooked rectangles containing a quartered diamond. Apron: dark red, undecorated pile. Catalogue date: 5.7.94
