Fiziksel açıklama
A sampler made as an apprentice piece by a young woman. Silk embroidery on cotton ground with cross, long-armed cross, double-running, and stem stitches. Colours are blue, yellow, red, green, mauve, and orange. The sampler has on either edge versions of a waving or zig-zag pattern such as occurs on the Azemmour embroideries. Another version of this pattern occurs on one side and the central part of the sampler. A large portion of the central part contains a series of edging patterns of different sizes, all representing various forms of conventional leaf or plant devices. The other parts of the two central panels show varieties of the closely-worked wide border bands often found on Salé pillows, each with the appearance of a series of gable-ends set side by side. Below in two cases there is a geometrical version of an oblique leaf pattern. In the third case the edging below is a frieze of cross or starry devices.
