Notlar Earrings, in a wide variety of designs, were worn by women throughout the Islamic world. This example was bought for two shillings at the International Exhibition, London, 1872. The crescent shape is typical of Islamic earrings. It was described as having the name halak ansarie when it was acquired. Halak is a generic Arabic name for earrings.

Fiziksel açıklama Gilt metal crescent earring. The wire is attached to the crescent by a hinge at one end and a matching pin fastening at the other. The crescent is made from sheet metal with three fluted cones attached on each side with a blue glass bead set in the top of each cone. There are 12 spherical beads soldered round the lower edge of the crescent, each with a granule on a ring of twisted wire at its outside tip.
