Notlar
At the end of the 18th century embroidery designs began to develop into rigid and heavily stylised borders for towels and napkins. The colours of 18th and 19th century embroideries were originally very bright but many have faded to pleasing pastel shades; often great quantities of metal thread were used. Napkins were mainly used to clean fingers during meals, but were also used as decoration and as covers. Their designs were consistently inventive.

Fiziksel açıklama
Cover of embroidered linen with silks in double running stitch variations and combinations, and in musabak stitch, and with metal thread in double running stitch variations and combinations. There are six silk ends per selvedge. There is a narrow border which runs around all four sides and across the upper edge of the main border. It is formed by an angular green meander with alternating pairs of green and blue leaves. The main border contains a pair of repeated motifs of a stylised tree formed by three clumps of foliage one on top of the other and a substantial building in three sections (either in blue and pink or pink and red), and the central section has a dome.
