Robe of quilted cotton, made in Turkey, late 19th century
Malzemeler ve teknikler
Quilted cotton, bronze beads and cotton lining
Fiziksel açıklama
Robe made of pink cotton lined with white cotton and hand quilted through both thicknesses in a pattern of chevrons. The quilting has been stuffed or threaded with a cotton cord. The robe is straight with an edge to edge front and no collar, slightly flared at the side seams. The long sleeves are set straight into a squared armhole. There is a vertical pocket slit at each side by no pocket. The front edges and neck have been trimmed with a commercially made border of bronze beads sewn to a black paper backing in the form of fruit and leaves, which has been roughly applied with tacking stitches in black cotton. The bead border is probably of western manufacture.
