Fiziksel açıklama 18th century single niche carpet, woven from the lower end of the niche. WARP: white wool; Z2S; 14 threads per inch (55 per dm) WEFT: red/brown wool; Z spun, unplied; 2 shoots after each row of knots; 9 knots per inch (32 per dm). PILE: wool; 8 colours: red, green, blue, light blue, light purple (only in lower two thirds), black, cream, white; symmetrical knot tied around 2 threads; 63 knots per sq. inch (880 per sq. dm). SIDE FINISH: missing END FINISH: missing DESIGN: Field: red ground with green internal border forming a re-entrant niche. The re-entrant bit is 7-sided and extends upwards into a double hook. This border contains small floral and geometric motifs. There is a white medallion filling the niche, containing a pair of red stylised blossoms and leaves. The medallion is supported on 2 lower corners by partial rosettes in cream with blue and red details. On either side of the re-entrant hooks is a white rectangle serrated on the upper and lower edges with a pair of hooks on each side; contains a red cross. Below there is a 2-colour rosette. Within the re-entrant is a white cross-shaped medallion with a red/blue central diamond and 4 pendants. Beneath this is a 6-sided white pendant with 2 red flowers joined by a black curled stem. The lower corners of the niche contain a white square containing a 2-coloured star. The green internal border is supported on 4 green 'feet' with claw ends; one of which has been incorrectly placed. Between them are 3 motifs, made of 6 hooks expanding from a central point. In the outer part of the field on either side, are pairs of geometric motifs: blue-ground 6-sided figures with 2 flowers on a black stem; above are 2 pairs of white squares with 2-coloured stars; a pair of green squares with stars; a pair of green rectangles with 2 red squares inside; a pair of white squares with a star.
