Warp: white wool; Z3S; 27 threads to the inch (95 per dm). Weft: wool; Z2S; pattern weft has 9 colours: red, light red, dark orange, green, green/blue, dark blue, light blue, cream, white; around 115 weft threads to the inch (c.440 per dm). Side finish: both sides have returned wefts. End finish: lower: incomplete; a narrow 1 cm band of plain weave in green/blue wool; halfway down is a single band of plain stitch with red wool alternating with light blue; some evidence of warp twining prior to knotting of fringe. Upper: missing. Design: field: dark blue ground with 18 bands of slightly offset botehs, of either 12 or 11 and two halves to the band, three-flowered floral sprigs with white floret surround, all turning to the right. Main border: white ground with a floral meander of blue flowers alternating with red on a dark blue vine.
