Notlar
The decoration on this jar combines elements borrowed from Chinese blue and white export porcelain dating from around 1630-40, a period known as the "Transitional period" in recognition of the volatile period of transition from the Ming to the Qing dynasty when production was disrupted by politics, with traditional Islamic arabesque motifs found in bookbinding, manuscripts and textiles. The distinction is emphasised by the use of red and green slip.
