Fiziksel açıklama
Fragment of plain woven undyed linen, with a square tapestry woven panel in purple wool woven directly into the ground fabric. Towards the bottom of the ground fabric is a gap of weft threads for about 2.5 cm. There is a selvedge and fringe formed from twisted warp threads along the bottom of the ground fabric. The design of the tapestry woven panel is picked out in undyed linen in flying thread brocading, over the purple wool. The pattern consists of an all-over design of lozenges defined by double ribbons twisting on themselves, surrounded by a border of stylised leaves. Ground weave (warp-faced tabby): Linen warp (S-spun, 26-28/cm) Linen weft (S-spun, 10/cm) Tapestry woven panel: Linen warp (S-spun) Wool weft (Z-spun, 20/cm) 11 ribs per cm
