Notlar A square decorative panel, tapestry woven in undyed linen and purple wool. Some slit tapestry. Egypt, ca. AD200-500. From a plain weave linen cloth; also undyed; approx. 25x25 tpc; thread dia. approx. 0.3mm; s-spun. At the centre of the panel is a standing male holding two birds. Floral motifs are in the background and possibly an upturned container (?) above the birds' heads. This rectangle is surrounded by 12 circles, each containing an image - a woman's head is in each corner and a bird and an animal are in between. These are edged with a reverse arcade border. The panel has been sewn, with a whip stitch using a linen thread (s-spun), to the linen cloth. The piece has some staining and some holes.
