Hexagonal tile of fritware (also called stone paste), painted under the glaze in two shades of blue on a white ground. In the centre of the design, a conventionalized cypress tree grows from a clump of leaves in the so-called saz style, with veins appearing as white against the dark-blue ground. The cypress tree has a light-blue trunk and light-blue and white scale-like leaves outlined in dark blue. There is a break in the leaf pattern running up most of the tree's height, creating an irregular white line, suggesting that one stencil was used for both halves of the design. Either side of the tree, and shown growing from the same clump of leaves, is a long saz -style leaf, on which a chain of small five-petal rosettes and tiny leaves has been superimposed, appearing as white against the light-blue ground, and with outlines in dark-blue. Either side of the light-blue leaves, and also shown growing from the same clump of leaves, is a light-blue stem of dark-blue hyacinth flowers. The design had no border.
