Notlar
A decorative roundel (130mm diameter) sewn to a linen cloth. Little of the cloth remains. The cloth is a plain weave in undyed linen, with some double wefts that possibly created bands on the original cloth. The roundel is in tapestry weave using maroon wool and undyed linen. The pattern is geometric interlacing with an edge of scrolling waves. Some staining.

Fiziksel açıklama
Tapestry woven roundel, probably from a tunic, in purple wool and undyed linen. Remains of the plain woven ground fabric into which the roundel was fixed can be seen, with traces of double wefts that may have created selfbands. The tapestry woven roundel depicts a geometric ornament of interlanced knots around a central lozenge enclosing a stylised flower. The roundel is surrounded by a border of scrolling waves. Details are picked out in flying thread brocading, in undyed linen. Plain weave: Linen warp (S-spun, 24/cm) Linen weft (S-spun, 14-16/cm) Tapestry weave: Linen warp (S-spun) Wool weft (Z-spun) Linen weft (S-spun) 10 ribs per cm
