Needham, H 4411a is a separable later edition, while Geissler's second state of H 4411 has 'only scattered in-press forme corrections. They do not distinguish a separate issue' (Sotheby's NY, 17 Dec. 1992, lot 13): see ISTC., There are 2 Prüss editions, both undated and ca. 1489. In the first edition, roman numerals are used in the running titles (Capitulum II, III, etc.); in the second, the numerals are spelled out (Capitulum secundum, tertium, etc.): see Geissler and ISTC., The first Prüss edition is known in 2 states. In the first state, the woodcut found on leaf n8 recto (a wolf and two cats on a rock) is incorrectly repeated on leaf n9 recto. In the second state, the woodcut on leaf n9 recto is the correct one of a cat and mice in a house., Latin translation by Giovanni da Capua of the Hebrew version of Kalīlah wa-Dimnah, the Arabic version of Fables of Bidpai, also known as the Fables of Kalila and Dimna (Goff), 119 woodcut illustrations. The series is repeated from the earlier German translation of this work printed by Konrad Fyner at Urach (ISTC ij00268500): see A.
