This short manual was written for beginners and consists of an introduction and ten chapters ( faṣl ). The copy was completed on 22 Jumādá I 1070/4 February 1660 by the scribe ʿAlī ibn Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥasan ibn Zayn al-Dīn al-ʿĀmilī (علي بن محمد بن الحسن بن زين الدين العاملي, see colophon Section at the end of a manuscript text. , f. 137v, lines 3-4 transcribed below). Next to the colophon Section at the end of a manuscript text. the reading certificate of Zayn al-Dīn ibn ʿAlī ibn Aḥmad (زين الدين بن علي بن أحمد) dated 16 Jumādá I 960/30 April 1553, has been copied from the source manuscript (بخط جدي, f. 137v, fore edge margin). Begins (f. 133v, lines 2-4): الحمد لله حمد الشاكرين وصلواته على سيدنا محمد وآله الطيبين الطاهرين وبعد فهذه رسالة في العمل بالربع المرسوم بالمقنطرات وصنعتها للمبتدى طريقًّا إلى الوصول... Ends (f. 137r, line 17-f. 137v, line 3): واذا وسط الكوكب ليلًا... فألق مطالع الغروب من مطالعه فالباقي هو الماضي في الليل عند توسطه وأن ألقيت مطالعه في مطالع الشروق حصل الباقي في الليل وكذا تعمل بمطالع طلوعه ومطالع غروبه والله أعلم Colophon Section at the end of a manuscript text.
