Notlar About: Careful copy of the gloss by Yūsuf ibn Muḥammad Khān al-Qarabāghī (al-Qarahʹbāghī) upon the commentary of Jalāl al-Dīn Muḥammad ibn Asʻad al-Dawwānī (d.1512 or 3) on the ʻAqāʼid of ʻAḍud al-Dīn ʻAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Aḥmad al-Ījī (d. 756/1355). | Shelfmark: Ann Arbor, University of Michigan, Special Collections Research Center, Isl. Ms. 1027 Origin: As appears in colophon on p.310, copied by Qāsim Bīk [Beg] ibn ʻĀdil Bīk [Beg]. Date of transcription note specified though excerpt in a different hand on back flyleaf (p.311) is dated 122- [?] [1806-1814?, final numeral unclear] which may provide a rough terminus ante quem of 1814. Paper, etc. may suggest late 17th or 18th century. Accompanying materials: a. Two inserts carrying glosses (paginated pp.7-8, 155-156) -- b. Slip with Qurʼānic excerpts, etc. (between pp.100-101). Former shelfmark: Mich. Isl. Ms. temp. no. 176 Binding: Pasteboards faced in block-printed paper (in bands of overlapping red and blue triangles alternating with bands of yellow) with red leather over spine and edges / turn-ins (decorative paper faced, leather edged, framed binding) ; Type III binding (without flap), possibly two-piece binding (seam partly visible at spine) ; lower board lining in untinted wove paper ; sewn in cream thread, two stations ; overall in somewhat poor condition with upper cover entirely lost, staining, abrasion, etc. ; housed in box for protection. Support: non-European laid paper with roughly 6 laid lines per cm. (horizontal, fairly distinct, somewhat wavy) and no chain lines plainly visible, quite thin, transluscent and crisp (in latter quires near tissue weight) though sturdy, quite well-sized and burnished to glossy ; replacement leaf (carrying 'title page' and incipit page) in European laid paper with watermark of arms with three stars above three mounts with crown above. Decoration: Keywords rubricated ; overlining in red. Script: Nastaʻlīq ; large, bold Persianate hand, in a heavy line ; mainly serifless with slight effect of words descending to baseline, elongation of horizontal strokes, pointing somewhat careless and mainly in conjoined dots (for two and three dots), bowl of final nūn especially large and prominant, alif lām of definite article often assimilated, partially vocalized. Layout: Written in 17 lines per page ; frame-ruled (impression of ruling board visible). Collation: IV+2 (10), 5 IV(50), III (56), 11 IV(144), i ; almost exclusively quaternions ; middle of the quire marks in the form of double stroke looking like elongated "۷" typically on the left-hand leaf ; catchwords present ; pagination in pencil, Western numerals, supplied during digitization (includes inserts and back flyleaf and skips ahead twenty pages following p.171 with p.192).
