A Sufi treatise on the concept of the "perfect man" through the knowledge of God. | Ms. codex., Title from fol. 1a., Copy completed on the 3rd of Jumādá al-Awwal 870 (1465) -- colophon (fol. 148a)., 21 lines per page. Written in a small naskh in black ink with use of red for rubrication. Catchwords on the verso of each leaf. Thick glazed paper with prominent pulp. Foliation in Arabic numerals in black ink. Foliation in Western numerals in pencil. A reading statement on fol. 1a in the name of Shihāb al-Dīn ... [?] al-Ḥamawī al-ʻIrāqī al-Shāfiʻī, dated Muḥarram 957 (1550) [5 appears crossed out so possibly 917?]., Incipit: بسملة وهو حسبى ونعم الوكيل الحمد لمن قام بحمده اسمه الله فتجلى في كل كمال استحقه واقضاه وحصر بنقطة خال جلاله حروف الجمال واستوفاه, Explicit: ولا تكون الا لواحد وارجوا ان اكون انا ذلك الرجل لانه له كان البدو فى الوجود فلا بد ان يكون له الختام عليه افضل الصلوه والسلام | Brown leather over pasteboard with envelope flap (the flap is a later replacement in burgundy leather). Blind fillets around borders of covers and the envelope flap. Blind stamped mandorlas, painted with gold around the edges in the centre of upper and lower covers, and a small blind stamped medallion on the envelope flap, also painted in gold around the edges. Pastedowns and lining to the envelope flap in a combination of two kinds of paper, one is plain yellow and the other blue and red marbled paper.
