A Sufi treatise on the concept of the "perfect man" through the knowledge of God. | Ms. codex., Title from fol. 1a., Copy completed on the 3rd of Jumādá al-Awwal 870 (1465) -- colophon (fol. 148a)., 21 lines per page. Written in a small naskh in black ink with use of red for rubrication. Catchwords on the verso of each leaf. Thick glazed paper with prominent pulp. Foliation in Arabic numerals in black ink. Foliation in Western numerals in pencil. A reading statement on fol. 1a in the name of Shihāb al-Dīn ... [?] al-Ḥamawī al-ʻIrāqī al-Shāfiʻī, dated Muḥarram 957 (1550) [5 appears crossed out so possibly 917?]., Incipit: Basmala, and He is my suffice, and He is the best disposer of affairs. Praise be to whoever praises Him, His name is God, and He is revealed in every perfection that He deserves. And he fulfilled it and limited it to a dot, empty of His Majesty, the letters of beauty, and he fulfilled it. Explicit: And it will only be for one person, and I hope that I will be that man, because for him the Bedouins were in existence, so he must have the end. May the best prayers and peace be upon him | Brown leather over pasteboard with envelope flap (the flap is a later replacement in burgundy leather). Blind fillets around the borders of covers and the envelope flap. Blind stamped mandorlas, painted with gold around the edges in the center of upper and lower covers, and a small blind stamped medallion on the envelope flap, also painted in gold around the edges. Pastedowns and lining to the envelope flap in a combination of two types of paper, one is plain yellow and the other blue and red marbled paper.
