Bag face. WARP: cream wool; Z2S; 26 threads per inch (106 per dm); varies as the warp threads are pulled closer together towards the top. WEFT: brown wool; unable to ascertain spin and twist; 2 shoots after each row of knots; 28 knots per inch (106 per dm). PILE: wool; 8 colours: dark red, red, yellow, dark blue, blue, purple, dark brown, cream; asymmetrical knot open to the right and tied around 2 threads; part of the way along either side are 2 vertical rows of symmetrical jufti knots; 364 knots per sq. inch (5618 per sq. dm). SIDE FINISH: one cord overcast with red wool. A piece of red and blue plaited braid has been attached to the right hand side to form a loop. END FINISH: Lower: plain weave with cream weft; one row of multi-coloured symmetrical jufti knots. Upper: plain weave with red and cream weft. DESIGN: Field: red ground with three bands of four rectangles containing a stepped gul in a diamond within a grid of flowerheads. Main border: diamonds alternating with half guls. Inner and outer borders: small flowerheads as in grid. Elem: (apron): 10 floral sprigs Upper band: dark blue flecks. Date catalogued: 22.6.94
