Warp: very light brown cotton; Z3S very lightly spun; depressed; 21 threads per inch (76 per dm). Weft: very light brown cotton; Z-spun, unplied, 2 parallel threads per shoot; 3 shoots after each row of knots; 10 rows of knots per inch (35 per dm). Pile: wool; 8 colours: dark red, red, light orange, green, dark blue, blue, light blue, white; asymmetrical knot open to left tied around 2 warp threads. Side finish: both sides have 1 cord oversewn with blue wool. End finish: lower - cut; upper - cut. Design: Field: dark blue ground with Herati pattern in red. In the centre is a red 8-pointed star containing floral and geometric motifs and around this is a 12-pointed red star overlying the field pattern. Main border: dark red ground with double meander in red outlined in dark blue. Meander is punctuated with red and blue rosettes framed by two red and blue leaves which alternate with red and blue pomegranate motifs that are edged in light blue in an inward / outward direction. Inner border: two parts - innermost: red ground with blue flowers on indistinct meander; secondary: blue ground with two types of red flowers separated by light orange and red blocks. Outer border: as inner but in reverse.
