The Armenians were famous for their silver-work in the 19th century. They were widely dispersed outside their homeland in the south Caucasus, and produced jewellery, particularly filigree, in traditional styles for many other nationalities and faiths (they were proudly Orthodox Christian themselves). This necklace was described as Armenian when it was acquired for the Museum for £1 2s at the International Exhibition, London, 1872, but it could have been worn almost anywhere in the Ottoman Empire.

Fiziksel açıklama
Necklace of silver beads strung on a plaited brown cotton cord, which is tied in a loop at each end. There are 20 spherical silver beads, with a coil of wire at each side round the hole. Each also has a coil of wire soldered on the bottom to form a suspension loop, from which hangs a ring supporting a hollow stylised bird. Each bird has two suspension loops attached to its lower edge, with a pendent ring, and disc with twisted wire decoration, hanging from each.
