یادداشت‌ها The so-called chintamani design is one of the most recognisable Ottoman decorative motifs. The motif comprised of paired wavy lines or tiger stripes is based on the depiction of the tiger skin coat worn by the Iranian hero Rustam, while the three balls motif may have had apotropaic associations among Turkic peoples, warding off evil by reflecting it back at the perpetrator. Tiles of this Central Asian design were used in the decoration of various private apartments in the Topkapi Saray (Istanbul), including those known as the Hirka-i Saadet and the library of Ahmed I, and were later copied by Syrian potters in the 16th century. The motif is also frequently found on textiles..
