یادداشت‌ها	Bracelets, always worn in pairs, were part of the traditional costume in almost all Islamic cultures. In the Syrian region, which incorporated much of Palestine, Jordan and Lebanon as well as Syria itself in the 19th century, they were worn by all sections of society, from townswomen to the nomadic Bedouin of the desert. The designs vary by sector and show influences from a wide area, reflecting Syriaâs strong trading traditions and central location. Flexible bracelets, like this one, were more common among the settled urban and rural population. The use of red and green pastes and applied rings of twisted wire are both characteristic of Syrian traditional jewellery, as are the chains of quatrefoil links. The London retailer Liberty imported large numbers of bracelets of this kind from Syria in the late 19th century, as can be seen from their catalogues.

Fiziksel açıklama	Bracelet made from five rows of quatrefoil chain, with a granule on the centre of each quatrefoil, linked at intervals to keep them in order. There is a rectangular terminal at each end, decorated with applied rings of twisted wire and set with three pastes, two green and one red, with tubes on the outside edge which together form a pin fastening. The pin is made of doubled wire which is secured by a bar inside the loop, so that it cannot fall out and be lost. There is a small disc attached by a ring to the top of the pin.
