یادداشت‌ها	The traditional jewellery of the Syrian region, which incorporated much of Palestine, Jordan and Lebanon as well as Syria itself in the 19th century, shows influences from a wide range of sources, reflecting Syriaâs strong trading traditions and central location. The jewellery worn in towns, which is often Ottoman or western in style, is frequently very different from that worn by the nomadic Bedouin, whose characteristic silver jewellery is much better known today. The small size of this earring and the fact that it is gilded suggest that it was made for urban wear. The crescent shape is typical of those worn throughout the Islamic world.

Fiziksel açıklama	Silver-gilt crescent earring set with a turquoise. The wire is attached by a hinge at one end at right angles to the crescent (broken), and by a horizontal pin fastening at the other. The crescent is made from a strip of open zigzag wire framed on the outside by a row of hollow beads threaded on a wire. Inside the crescent are two more strips of zigzag wire, forming a âTâ, with a turquoise set in the centre where the bands meet.
