یادداشت‌ها The Iranian potters who made this dish developed an ingenious solution to create a sophisticated design and control the cobalt pigment which tends to flow uncontrollable when fired. The design which closely imitates a contemporary Chinese export original, is first incised into the fritware body when leather hard, it is then painted with the powdered cobalt pigment and glazed. When fired the cobalt pigment that collects or pools in the incised lines appears darker and the effect is of two tones of blue, when only one is used, and as a result the design is crisper.
Tarihsel bağlam The motifs decorating the dish appear to herald a different type of export porcelain, known as Swatow and Kraak wares.
Malzemeler ve teknikler Fritware, incised and underglaze painted
Fiziksel açıklama A pattern of narrow panels over the flange and well gives a brisk impression of petal panels. Two birds stand in the centre surrounded by four levels of sketchy plants. Rough rock shapes act as a background. Single lines divide the outside into ten areas. The base ring with two hanging holes and the mark of a faint ring at the centre is narrower than on earlier dishes. There is no mark. The casual quality of the painting suggests imitations of Swatow wares.
