یادداشت‌ها Earrings, in a wide variety of designs, were worn by women throughout the Islamic world. This example was acquired for the Museum in Jerusalem in 1873, for 11 shillings the pair. The circular wire and the design of a semi-circle of rays ending in stylised beads are much more typical of the kind of earring worn in the Balkans, particularly in Bulgaria, than those from the Syrian region. It is possible that it was an import, brought by a pilgrim to the Holy City, but it is equally likely to have been made locally. The traditional jewellery of the region shows influences from a wide range of sources, reflecting Syria’s strong trading traditions and central location.
