یادداشت‌ها Pieces of jewellery like this, with S-shaped elements strung closely together or stitched to a piece of fabric, are part of the traditional costume in many places of Islamic heritage, from Algeria to the south Caucasus. Pendent filigree crescents are typical of those worn in North Africa, and the central filigree boss identifies it as Egyptian, as it was described when it was acquired by the Museum in 1869. The local name was given as Eqd , which is a probably a variant of the Palestinian name for necklaces of this type, Aqd . These were worn across the forehead, as well as round the neck.

Malzemeler ve teknikler Silver-gilt sheet and filigree set with turquoise Turquoise Silver-Gilt Filigree
Fiziksel açıklama Head ornament composed of a band of beige-coloured material with a row of 30 hollow silver-gilt S-shapes attached to its front in the centre. The row has a filigree dome inset with turquoise at each end, and a similar, slightly larger, one in the centre, separating the S-shapes into two halves. A crescent of open filigree, set with five turquoises, hangs from the central dome, with a filigree rosette set with a turquoise hanging from its centre. The lower edges of the row of S-shapes, the domes and the pendants all have loops from which hang coin pendants, some of which are dated 1255 and 1266 AH (1839 and 1850).
