Fiziksel açıklama Flat weave Caucasian carpet, predominantly plain soumak. Made from 6 narrow widths, each approximately 28 cms wide. WARP: white cotton; Z2S; 44-56 threads per inch (200-208 per dm). WEFT: Foundation: white cotton; Z2S; 1 shoot between each row of soumak; 17-18 threads per inch (60 per dm). Pattern: wool and cotton; Z2S; 9 colours: red, yellow, yellow cotton, green, dark blue, blue, purple, dark brown, brown; Weft technique: a variety of weft-wrapping techniques have been used: over 16, back under 8; reverse soumak with float carried at back from motif to motif; upward wrapping; forward under 6, forward over 6, back under 6, forward over 6, forward under 6, etc. SIDE FINISH: returned wefts. END FINISH: all cut apart from one length (lower right) which has ends that have been looped warp ends. DESIGN: decorated in bands: small stepped lozenges, parallel combs joined by a vertical bar, small stepped lozenges, cross with a double outline containing stepped lozenges, geometric S-motifs with a central stepped lozenge, parallel combs joined by a vertical bar, geometric S-motifs with a central stepped lozenge, and a vertical striped bar on small triangular base with larger triangle and comb at the head. The bar has 6 pairs of upwardly diagonal branches. This sequence is repeated once completely except in the second sequence, the S-motif band appears on four strips only, and once more up to the band of crosses. There is a narrow border on all sides of the diagonal stripes on the white ground.
