| Notes | Many people think that Atatürk's involvement with history began with the establishment of the Turkish Historical Research Society. However, history was one of the subjects that Atatürk loved the most and always occupied with since his school days. I became aware of this truth in 1923, due to a decision of the council of professors of the Istanbul Darülfünunu Literature Madrasa. As follows: In the assembly of professors of Istanbul Darülfünun Faculty of Letters, which met on the 19th of September in 1338 (1923), one of the professors, Yahya Kemal Bey, made a proposal to give an honorary professorship to the Commander-in-Chief Gazi Mustafa Kemal Pasha. This proposal was unanimously accepted by the parliament and the situation was presented to Gazi Mustafa Kemal Pasha in the following telegram. |
