Notes The constitutional movement has been one of the achievements of our confrontation with modern ideas. This movement was the result of the coalition of many social forces including clerics and intellectuals. These two social forces have a lot of influence in the country's history. The influence of these two social forces in social movements is so important and effective that their alliance in the constitutional movement led to the victory of the movement and their differences led to separation and return to authoritarianism. This research examines the historical context of the coalition of clerics and intellectuals in the constitutional movement. The findings of the research show that the grounds and reasons for their coalition can play a role in authoritarianism, economic interests and rights, lack of knowledge about the constitution, removal of some nobles, legalism, formation of the House of Justice and the Constitutional Assembly, influence of foreigners, change of strategies, etc. Of course, the mentioned factors are not the definite causes of the alliance between intellectuals and clerics; Rather, they can be considered as conditions that facilitated the coalition.
