Notes Atatürk, this word is a symbol of virtue, heroism and humanity for the Turkish nation. Explaining it and saying it is something that is not that easy. I think, turning my eyes far back. At that time, the Turkish world was burning in blood and fire, and the Turkish nation was struggling not to drown in this storm of blood and fire. How long did this struggle and effort last? Like a long and frightening dream, the terrible curtains of the dark days were lifted from the Turk's face, and the Turk's soul was illuminated with a bright light like the morning sun rising after stormy and hurricane days. That great person to whom we owe our entire life, our entire existence, our entire civilized identity is the greatest being in itself.
Parçası Olduğu Belleten (Türk Tarih Kurumu), 1939-04, Vol.3 (10), p.281-284
