Notes The seven island republics, known in Ottoman history and documents as (Republic of Algerian Mujtamia) or (Republic of Aljaridian Mujtamia) emerged following the French occupation of Egypt and were accepted to be under the protection of the Ottoman state in accordance with the Treaty signed in the first year of the nineteenth century, that is, in March of 1800 AD.
