| Notes | Introduction and objectives Addiction to the opioid group has harmful effects on the mental and physical dimensions of those suffering from its use. Also, drug use has a negative effect on the central nervous system. It is necessary for humans to benefit from the optimal balance. The lack of balance in the body deprives humans of natural life and exposes them to injury, fall, and even death. According to the cases mentioned above, addiction to narcotic drugs may have a negative effect on human balance, and the researcher is looking for an answer to this problem in this research. Materials and methods The samples of the current research consisted of 30 women and 30 men addicted to opioids treated with methadone, who were purposefully selected from among the addicts who were willing to cooperate, and 30 women and 30 healthy men who were homogeneous with the addict samples in terms of age, height, weight, and BMI were selected as the control group. In this research, the Y balance measuring device was used to measure dynamic balance, and the one-leg chest standing test was used to measure static balance. Findings According to the findings of this research and the results of multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA), there is a significant difference between static balance (p=0.0001) and dynamic balance (p=0.0001) of addicted men and women and healthy men and women. Discussion and conclusion According to the results of the present research, it was observed that there is a significant difference with a large effect size between the static and dynamic balance of women and men addicted to drugs and healthy women and men. Finally, it can be concluded that drug use and addiction has a negative effect on the static and dynamic balance of women and men. |
