| Sample Text | Introduction Today, severe environmental degradation and reduction of watershed performance under the influence of various factors are of particular importance. To deal with these threats, it is customary to use the approach of integrated management of watersheds and the application of the SWOT concept. This analysis, having structural features and appropriate flexibility, has wide capabilities in the management of different ecosystems. In the SWOT analytical model, strategies are developed to maximize strengths and opportunities and minimize weaknesses and threats. Therefore, in this research, it has been tried to evaluate the impact of various human and natural factors on the situation of the watershed area of Mehsaz using the SWOT approach. Materials and methods Mihsaz watershed, with an area of 11,191.1 hectares, is located in the west of Mazandaran province and in Nowshahr city, Kajur district and Zanus Rastaq district. In terms of elevation changes, its lowest elevation is 1374.7 meters above sea level located at the outlet of the watershed and the highest is 3689 meters located in the southern highlands. The average amount of annual precipitation of the Mihsaz watershed is 427.8 mm and the average annual temperature is 10.53 degrees Celsius. SWOT analysis is one of the efficient methods of strategic management that can be used for beneficial results in different study watersheds, analysis of local capacities and in general in order to achieve the goals of integrated development planning studies in economic, social, cultural and physical dimensions. The first step in strategic management is forming the SWOT matrix. The SWOT matrix, taking into account the conditions and internal and external factors governing a system, provides a good basis for formulating strategies. To present the strategy in the framework of the existing approach, four types of strategies including competitive-offensive, diversification, revision and defensive strategies have been used. To provide any type of strategy, two or more components of existing factors that cover each other or are related were considered. Then, in line with these combined factors, the best strategies for the research area were determined and finally, the factors were ranked. In the implementation of SO strategies, external opportunities can be exploited to the maximum by using internal strengths. The results and discussion of the two factors of income reliance on different sectors (livestock-agriculture-services) and climatic diversity (rainfall and temperature) in the watershed, with a weighted score of 0.23, have jointly assigned the most importance among the strengths. In the weak points, the factor of lack of property compared to the household dimension has been identified as the most important weak point of the watershed with a weighted score of 0.63. The two factors of the possibility of reviving handicrafts and nature suitable for tourism are the most important opportunities in this watershed with a common score of 0.3. In the Mihsaz watershed, the possibility of spring flooding due to snow melting with a score of 0.2 and early and late cold weather with a score of 0.18 is one of the most important threats facing it. Based on this, internal factors with a score of 3.54 compared to external factors with a score of 2.89 have a greater impact on the improvement of the watershed situation in Majesaz. Conclusion In this research, the impact of natural and human factors on the management of Mehsaz watershed in Mazandaran province was evaluated and measured using the SWOT method. The results of the research showed that in the Mihsaz watershed, income reliance on different sectors and climate diversity in the watershed are the most important strengths, and the lack of property is the most important weakness in relation to the household dimension. The prioritization of the region's strategies also indicates that the strategy of reducing the destruction of resources and reforming the livelihood pattern are in the first and second priorities with scores of 2.21 and 2.19, respectively. |
