Notes The purpose of this research was to investigate the role of parenting beliefs and mothers' attitude towards creative thinking on children's creativity. For this purpose, 80 preschool children aged 5-6 (42 boys and 38 girls) and their mothers were selected from preschool centers in Shiraz city by random cluster sampling. Children were evaluated with Torrance's visual creativity test and mothers were evaluated with tests of parents' innovativeness scale and parents' educational questionnaire. Reliability and validity of the research tools were checked with content validity, internal consistency, Cronbach's alpha and retest methods. The obtained results indicated that there is a positive and significant correlation between mothers' modern beliefs and children's creativity. The results of the regression analysis also showed that the dimensions of creativity and play were positive and significant predictors and control was a negative and significant predictor of creativity in children. Also, significant gender differences between girls and boys were observed in mothers' parenting attitudes and beliefs and creativity.
