| Sample Text | Today, with the ever-increasing population and the need for food and the limitation of water resources, increasing the yield of crops per unit volume of water consumed is very important. The limitation of water resources with the aim of increasing the production of crops reveals the importance of obtaining cultivars tolerant to difficult environmental conditions with high water consumption efficiency. In this regard, a field study on the effect of different levels of irrigation on the yield and yield components of different wheat cultivars was carried out in the agricultural research area of Ramin University of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Khuzestan, during 1989-90. The experiment was conducted as one-time split plots in the form of a randomized complete block design with three replications. The treatments include 3 wheat varieties (Chamran, Aflak and Verinak) and five levels of irrigation I1 (irrigation at the 2-leaf stage), I2 (irrigation at the 2-leaf stage + tillering), I3 (irrigation at the 2-leaf stage + tillering + pregnancy), I4 (irrigation at the 2-leaf stage + tillering + pregnancy + flowering) and I5 (irrigation at the 2-leaf stage + were tillering + pregnancy + flowering + milking of seeds). Chamran cultivar had significantly the highest seed yield (5.4822 kg/ha) compared to Aflak and Verinak cultivars. In addition, in the investigation of all irrigation levels, the results showed that the Chamran cultivar had the highest seed yield compared to the other two cultivars. Among the different levels of irrigation, the highest and lowest yields were obtained in treatments I5 and I2, respectively. In this experiment, it was observed that soil moisture stress reduces wheat grain yield by reducing the weight of one thousand grains, the number of spikes per square meter, and the number of spikes per spike per square meter. Therefore, the yield of wheat in the condition of water shortage in any of the critical stages of growth will result in a decrease in yield. |
